Artwork Guidelines
Please make sure your artwork and images are in the CMYK colour format with a minimum resolution of 180ppi (300ppi preferred). We can print spot colours and specific Pantone colours for offset jobs, though there may be some variation depending on stock. Give us a call and we’ll go through the available options.
A minimum 3mm bleed is recommended if you want your artwork to run right to the edge of the page i.e. ‘bleed off’. For booklets and books, we prefer to impose the jobs ourselves to suit our workflow, so just prove the document with its standard page order and we’ll do the page-flipping.
Check that all fonts and images are embedded directly or included with the job. If you can’t supply the fonts due to licencing restrictions, please outline them (convert to paths / create outlines – this is usually found under the ‘Type’ menu in most industry standard programmes).
We can accept files in the following formats: InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, PDF, EPS, TIFF, Quark XPress 8.
We can also work with Microsoft Office formats such as Word (DOC), Publisher (PUB), and Excel (XLS), but would recommend against using these if at all possible as what they show on the screen often won’t match what actually prints. As such we may need to spend a bit longer with these files, so they may incur an extra charge.
We can receive artwork via e-mail up to attachment sizes of 20MB (send it to Callum). For anything larger, please split into multiple e-mails or provide us with a USB Flash Drive or CD/DVD, or send it using a Dropbox / YouSendIt link or any other cloud-based file transfer facility.
If all this technical talk has your eyes glazing over, or you’re unsure of anything at all, please contact us and we’ll try our best to help.
